While in Denver

I got to see some very dear friends who relocated to Denver about a year ago. They took it upon themselves, very graciously, to show me around the cooler parts of Denver...literally. While it may have been in the 90's in the valley, on Mt. Evans it was a chilly 48 degrees, causing us to break out all warm clothing available and explaining why Loren is modeling my jacket.




The scenery was breathtaking, and that may have been attributed to our being at 14,ooo ft.


To warm up we headed over to LoDo (lower downtown Denver) to check out the biggest REI I've ever seen. It has an area for testing bikes and an area for testing kayaks and canoes. The river side tends to get taken over by hooligans and their inflatable rafts, though.

We decided to have a nice, quiet, dinner at their house in order to be able to get up early to take their little fishing boat out. This gave me time to get reacquainted with Pete and enjoy the sunsetting behind the mountains and enjoying a bottle of wine.


We did get up and get the boat out early to the Cherry Creek reservoir. A very relaxing morning getting ready for the long drive home. Hope to get back to see them soon. Thanks again for your hospitality!
