Santa Barbara

We've arrived in beautiful Santa Barbara.  While David has a conference to go to, with a presentation today, I'm on vacation.  Yep, that's right, nothing to do except explore the campus, the beach, read and knit.  

We spent the morning getting to know our surroundings.  We chose to stay in the dorms on UCSB campus so we'd be walking distance to the conference for David and the beach for me.  It's a weird deja vu-type experience being back in these rooms (almost identical to my freshman year room - with the exception of the co-ed rooms) and eating meals in the cafeteria.

But with this kind of view, who's going to complain?

On the ocean side, it was still too overcast and calm to see much beyond the birds swimming and some canoe/kayak fishermen?

The conference is being held in buildings that flank a lagoon that has some beautiful vegetation and excellent jogging/walking trails that I will have to explore further later.

Well, I'm off to meet David and some friends - the plan is to head into Santa Barbara proper.  More tomorrow...
