When not doing something special, our days in Dunedin were very nice and vacation like. Lots of hanging out with family, catching up with our friends from Oz (whom we haven't seen since their wedding 4 years ago), cooking nice meals, watching rugby (it was always on which was fantastic!), playing card games, and exploring the city with a toddler. We went to lots of playgrounds. Mostly like the US, but a few that would never be allowed in the US sue crazy culture.
It was fantastic traveling with both my parents and our friends who had a toddler. Everyone understood what it was like to have a little one: the schedule of naps, food, and playtime. (While poor Ian and Meg got their yearly dose of contraception!) The grandparents played with Connor and could stay at the house while he napped, which gave Mom and Dad some time to relax and enjoy our trip too. With the assist from the grandparents, we made it out to a few fantastic lunches and a dinner or two.
