NZ: Game 1 - England versus Argentina

We were pretty excited about this game. This was probably going to be the best game in Pool C, with both teams making it to the quarter finals last world cup. England is known for their incredibly boring and grinding game play (so why we went to two games we are still trying to figure out), but the Argentina Pumas are capable of moments of brilliance and exciting rugby.

The atmosphere of the game was great! Lots of singing, chanting, and dancing. We were definitely cheering for the Pumas! Lots of Argentina fans, as well as a strong Kiwi contingent who were also rooting against England. If I were to rate the fans: Argentina wins hands down with fun and festive fans, while England also had for the most part jerk fans (for the most part pretty arrogant).

We left the munchkin at home with Grandma and the five of us (Ian, Meg, Dad, Ali and I) headed off for the game. It was fun to watch both teams warm up, and from our seats were were not far from all the action. Overall the game was pretty good, which saw Argentina lead through excellent conversions for most of the game only to fall behind in the 67th minute by a try by the English pack. Final England 13, Argentina 9.
