Jody Pody comes to ABQ!

At long last, Ali's good friend (and one-time bridesmaid) made it out to Albuquerque. The plan was to spend Jody's birthday starting at the Balloon Fiesta Mass Ascension. Unfortunately American Airlines conspired against us and kept Jody in Dallas overnight.

When she finally arrived we had a lot of lost time to make up for. We started off by picking up David and heading up to have breakfast with our former teammate. We dropped David off so he could recover from his morning adventure and headed out to explore the city. We spent the most time walking up and down Central in Nob Hill, ending our stroll at a pub guranteed to serve Fat Tire (Jody's personal favorite) on tap. David joined us a while later to help Jody celebrate so at least one person who could participate.

After a few more beers we headed to dinner down the street at one of our favorite Italian places (since it was her birthday we decided not to force New Mexican on her).

We ended the night with a trip to the grocery store for more Fat Tire and ice cream (beer floats of course!)

The next morning Jody and I got up early and headed up to the green space to check out the balloon launch from the mountains.

It was chilly enough that we disturbed this roadrunner's warmer resting spot.

We worked up quite an appetite hiking around and headed home to pick up David and head off too brunch. Afterwards we headed down to Old Town to do some shopping and sightseeing. We didn't realize that the plaza would be mobbed. Apparently troops from the USS Albuquerque and the USS New Mexico were visiting. Who knew a land-locked state would have two subs named for them!
