Rain in the desert!

We had rain! And not just a few drops. A long 3 day stretch of cloudy rainy cool weather kicked off on Saturday and ended on Monday. Highs only in 70s with constant rainy drizzle. It was awesome. We were genuinely happy about the crappy weather. We know that being excited about gray skies is one of the signs that you have lived in ABQ for a while! In most places this would just be called "weather", but here the rain was the leading story on the local news.


Our Saturday weather, beautifully cloudy!

After the second driest July's since records started being kept in 1913, this rainfall brought our rain totals up to average. It also signifies the real start of our monsoon season. What you say? Monsoon in North America? It has always been here, but only confirmed by science as recently as 1993. This shift in wind and rain patterns in the summer brings us our summer rains, which is the most significant source of our (meager) rain fall. Here is hoping that our crappy weather continues!
