Sushi with George Clooney

You probably haven't heard yet about the burgeoning film industry in Albuquerque - there are a lot of movies that have been filmed or is being filmed right now in our cool state. These include 310 to Yuma, Swing Vote, Terminator Salvation, and No Country for Old Men (which coincidentally had one of the huge pivotal scenes in the movie filmed less than 2 blocks from our house) to name just a few. Now the NM film industry goes by the name Tomalewood.

Most of our friends have had run ins with famous stars in and around our city (Helen Mirren, Kevin Costner). But tonight was our turn. We had tickets for Mariachi Christmas later in the evening, so we went out for a pre show dinner to our favorite sushi place here in ABQ. The restaurant was pretty empty being Tuesday night, so we sat down. After a few minutes of trying to figure out who the nondescript gentleman was at the sushi bar not 8' from where I sat, it dawned on me - George Clooney. Listening to him talk to his dining compatriots (agent, fellow actors, body guards?) was the give away! He was looking rather scruffy sporting a mustache and several days growth, a black T-shirt, jeans, and an cabby hat. Need to figure out what he is filming here, but it was pretty cool to have sushi (albeit from a distance but still in the same restaurant) with the man from Oh Brother Where Art Thou? - one of our favorite movies. I snapped a covert picture - no flash so it didn't turn out great, but thats him!
