Christmas Eve Bike Ride

It is the calm before the storm. There are a lot of winter storms heading our way, but right now it is bright and sunny out with temps in the 50s. We took advantage of the first day of my vacation. We decided to bike north along the arroyo. The arroyos keep us all from drowning when summer rains soak the desert. They are massive engineering feats that criss cross the valley, carrying water from the mountains safely to the Rio Grande. The nice thing is that there is a series of bike paths that follow most of them, and we decided to explore the largest today heading straight north toward the mountains.

We had a nice ride, a total of 19 miles round trip. We finished up by biking through the UNM campus (delightfully empty due to Christmas vacation). Biking by the UNM duck pond and then past the world famous Frontier.
