Every Christmas Eve one of the older neighborhoods in the city puts luminarias all over the boulevards, the houses, the parks. It was absolutely lovely. Luminarias are essentially paper bags that are lit up with candles. People come from all over the city to see the lights. Most people park and walk along the boulevard with their families, dogs, friends - carolers singing anywhere. Lots of classic cars packed with people drive slowly by with their lights off. There must have been thousands of lights, and Ali and I walked for over an hour and a half enjoying the festive environment and taking lots of photos.
The picture below is a 30 second exposure you can see all the people walking by and the trails of the cars.
Imagine thousands of flaming bags but no fires - its a Christmas miracle!
We are working hard to establish our own holiday traditions, and I think it's coming along rather splendidly - notice the early Christmas present of a fine bottle of Scotch and a decadent desssert.
