When hordes of children invade your house....

We had Connor's first birthday party today. It was a boisterous, chaotic, noisy hullabaloo. We invited all of Connor's extended family here in ABQ that have children over for the party. All told, there were 5 girls ages 3 to 6, 3 boys all around 2, and 2 babies around 1, and a little boy of 4 months - way more children than we have ever tried to fit into the house before.

We were both trying to recover from the big party the night before (late bedtime + Connor the early riser = tough morning). Luckily, we just put out all the food that was left over from last night for the guests and let them have at it.

It was definitely fun (or funny?), as all the parents developed a glazed look about 10 minutes in. Overall, the kids were great, much more orderly than the chaos I was expecting. Connor had a good time, playing with his toys, stealing toys from others, and watching all the big kids tear it up. After all the excitement, Connor went to bed relatively early. Mom and dad followed shortly after. We will take the next week to recover, and maybe open up some of the gifts that our friends were kind enough to bring over.
