Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial day weekend has already come and gone. But it was a good one. I started my weekend on Friday (courtesy of my 9-80 schedule). Most mornings of the weekend were filled with yard work, as we got our back yard whipped into shape for the summer and our approaching Tiki party. This involved a lot of grooming of trees/shrubs/bushes and a long 3 hour hacking session on the 50 year old pyracantha bush that was threatening to take over the side yard. All this work was truly a family affair, as both Ali and I worked with help from the grandparents.

On the non-yard work side of the weekend, we had a very nice and relaxing time. Both Ali and I managed to take a nap or two here or there. We went out for a fantastic brunch on Sunday at our new favorite brunch location Casa Vieja where we had a nice meal on their shady patio followed by some shopping.

Chilling at Casa Viejo.

On Monday we went over to a pool party and BBQ at a friends house where Connor got his first dip in the pool. He really enjoyed being in the pool with Mom, but we couldn't tell if it was fascination with the water or with the 5 other children that were joyfully playing all around him. He didn't mind the water at all, and was only mildly startled when he was briefly submerged. We will probably do this again this weekend as it looks to be a hot one!
