Pizza in the new kitchen

One of our favorite meals here at Casa de Scrymgeour is homemade pizza cooked on the grill. We haven't made it for a while due to the boy, but this weekend we got ambitious. Yes, it is totally nerdy, but I am still excited that when you roll something out on the new counter it doesn't get worked into the grout lines (like the previous version of the kitchen). First step in the process is to make the dough and let it rise. While this is going on, make the pizza sauce and prep all the toppings.

Left: rolling out the dough, right: ingredients ready

One key aspect of this process is the grill. It gives the pizza a nice smoky hint, and it is super easy and quick. You first grill one side until the dough is cooked enough to handle, then you pull it off, flip it and decorate the cooked side. Before I forget, the other key aspect of this process is a bottle of beer. Beer makes things go smoother.

Below is the finished product. We made our tried and true BBQ chicken pizza with red onions and cilantro, a green chili sausage and caramelized peppers and onions, and finally (courtesy of Ian) oil cured black olives with rosemary. Delish!
