Weekend in Chicago

This Labor Day weekend Ali was otherwise occupied, so I decided to head out to Chicago for the weekend to visit my good friend Ameet. We met long ago in 4th grade on a snow blasted playground in North Dakota, which makes him my friend of over a quarter century (yikes)! We haven't lived in the same place for 21 of those years, but despite the distance and time we still manage to stay great friends. Below left is a shot from China Town and right is a photo from the water taxi ride along the Chicago river.

It was a really fun weekend. We ate some fantastic food - among the many memorable meals we had was Ethiopian, Greek, seafood (including raw oysters), and a crazy Sunday brunch of dum sum in Chinatown (including chicken feet). We went to see a Second City show, and walked around most of the downtown area. Spent a night out on the town with Ameet and his merry band of very single bachelors friends (that evening warrants a whole post by itself, but confidentiality agreements and international law prevents details being released). Saw a lot of sights and had a really good time. We went to visit Ameet's sister out in the burbs, and visited with her and her 3 very cute children, although all being younger than 3 sort of scared the crap out of me. All in all, it was a great weekend, and I look forward to returning. Below is the obligatory shot of the "Bean" from Century Park.
