The Train to Santa Fe

Ali's parents came to town this weekend for a visit. We decided take the new commuter train that runs from Albuquerque up to Santa Fe. We are pretty excited about the train, called the Rail Runner, but haven't had an opportunity to do so. So we hopped on board and enjoyed a short 1 hour ride, winding along the river valley than up on top of the mesa through very beautiful scenery.

After a nice afternoon of shopping at an art's festival, a lot of walking, and sampling some good local food; we were pooped. The train arrived, and we boarded up for the ride back home.

The photos below are from the ride back to ABQ. The only mar in the trip was a 20 minute stint without AC, but thankfully they fixed that before we all expired. The remaining trip was remarkably quiet ride and was very conducive to sleeping. On the drive from the train station, we stopped for a quick drink at the rooftop bar at the Sandia Casino and enjoyed the nice view of the Sandia Crest. We got there right as the sun was setting, and the mountain was in full Sandia mode turning a beautiful pink. It was a fun and very tiring day.
