Celtic Festival/Rugby 7's

So it may sound like a weird combination, but the weekend was definitely a success. The local men's rugby club had teamed up with the local celtic society and decided to host their events together - doubling the crowd and activity.

Monumental also was that, this year, there was a high school girls bracket for the rugby tournament. Unfortunately only our girls and the Los Alamos girls were able to make it. Still it was great for the girls to have fans and to see tons of rugby - and then go have fun with the music, dancing and competition of the Highland Games.

Also key for the tournament was a rhino match - featuring players over 250lbs - and women's match in costume - this year's theme was Xena Warrior Princess. In case anyone was ever planning to run for office, no pictures here.

We do have picture of Ali, in full coach mode, with her girls

They learned that 7 minutes is lot longer than they thought, but all were super excited to be playing and keep playing.

And, for good measure, a look at what the boys team put together for the weekend.

Missing from the photos, and my fault entirely, is a picture of David looking dapper in his kilt and rugby jersey. We'll just have to imagine how he looked strutting his stuff.
