Summer mornings in the desert

Well, summer is here along with our blazing hot June.  This is usually our worst month - high temps without the afternoon rains that start up when monsoon season begins (hopefully) in July - and this month has been the hottest on record.

You know it is bad when you see news articles like this.  Sensationalistic sure, but definitely true.  At 9:30 this morning the slide was probably a better place to cook pancakes than go for a ride on.

The only way to enjoy the outdoors to get out early before the sun really gets going.

So Saturday mornings we try to leave the house before 8 to head to our local farmers market (there are several in the city, but this is the closest). On top of the fresh produce and baked goods, there is always music from a local group as well as other merchants looking to sell funky and fun merchandise.

Highlights, for us, include fresh French pastries and the recent addition of a local face painting artiste.
