First - summer haircut for the little man. I know, I know - I get enough complaints about how cute his culrs are but this seemed a better idea for all the sand and water (not to mention humidity) we will encounter. So behold the first little boy haircut.
Thankfully he doesn't mind, and actually sits quite still. As long as he gets to watch a movie, that is, and gets a lollipop when he finishes.
Second - recover some things from Granny and Opa's condo to take with us. This included a rummage through his bottomless train collection for the perfect travel companions. Below is the response I got to "No, Connor, they can't all come with us".
Third (and most important) - Have tons of fun.
We are very fortunate to have a completely covered (read shaded) playground at an elementary school very close to the house. Which helps immensely when you have to deal with things like this. So, we've been meeting a good friend of mine (and fellow rugby player) from college and her two kids at said playground. Her kids are great and very patient with Connor - who is not as acrobatic as they are (yet) and is still trying to grasp the finer points of sharing. They play very well together and then we've all been heading back to our house for lunch in the AC.

We also visit Grandma Shirley pretty regularly (our wonderful 80 something retired school teacher neighbor). Connor has become fascinated with her piano and she loves the company. We also know that, very soon, her pool will be opening and we don't want to miss that.
Finally, we visit the local zoo and aquarium as often as possible. We're very lucky that they open fairly early so we can get in and out before it's too hot. Connor's new favorite place is the Homo sapien exhibit, a large enclosed play area that lets kids climb and jump to their hearts content.
