One of the big reasons we love REI is our little bonus at the end of the year, the end of year dividend. This little bonus can only be spent at REI, which works out for us, because there is always something there that is beckoning us. This year we sprung, and got a
Weehoo bike trailer for Connor.

This thing is awesome!
This thing is absolutely awesome! Sort of like a bike for Connor but is totally safe - he straps in to the seat using a 5 point harness and then you clip his shoes in there too. This means he can pedal, just sit there, or even fall asleep. He sits up, can look around and enjoy the ride. The best part is the rolling resistance is really low, so now we can go for moderately long bike rides together as a family. So far our longest with him is about 20 miles. Still limited to about 45 minutes of straight riding before he gets really bored, but that is a great start!

Looking for prairie dogs
Since getting it in late April we have have gone on numerous rides around Albuquerque. Our two favorites were onto the Kirkland airforce base to see the helicopters and jets and the prairie dogs running around. Our other is along the Bosque trail down by the river. That one is the big favorite because lots of dogs, walkers, joggers, roller bladers, and other cyclists out enjoying the trail. When we first took him there, he was so excited about riding he was waving and saying hi to everyone we passed.

Cruising the Bosque
Now that our Bike MS150 training season is upon us, we probably won't be heading out as much as before, especially since it get so hot, so early now. But I will probably be taking Connor to school on this thing when Ali starts up work in a few weeks. We will be using this thing for a few years to come, as it is rated to 65 lbs.
