We say it every year - this is the best event ever! We have been fans since we moved here and have gone every year since. Our favorite event is the mass ascension where they launch over 700 balloons in the course of the morning. We were up at the predawn darkness to drive most of there way there, but than finish the last few miles on bike. There was a group of us that went, including some new friends that had never been to festival before. After a nice little ride we were there on the field with the sun coming up and balloons launching all around us. This year they set the new Guinness Book of World Record launch with over 345 balloons launched in one hour!
It is only going to get more fun for us as Connor gets older. Last year he couldn't care less about the balloons and only wanted to watch people. This year he loved the balloons and spend the whole morning looking around in wide eyed wonder. We all had a great time. As an aside, our favorite balloon from this year was the completely random and awesome Spider-pig (below on the left).
