Baby Connor
Then there is Connor's other side - Mr. Turdley. This is the guy that won't sleep despite being absolutely exhausted and cranky. Connor has never slept anywhere close to the amount he was supposed to from the second he arrived. The longest stretch of sleep we have ever gotten from this guy was 5 hours, and that was over 4 months ago. His typical schedule is to take 2 naps during the day that total about 1.5 hours. At night, he sleeps from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am in 3 hour blocks between feedings. That is all we can get him to do (despite many attempts at altering this).

Mr. Turdley
Lately, he has been fighting sleep with every ounce of his being. We had a few evenings when just after his 3 am feeding, he thought it was party time. He would go ballistic when the lights went off, when you tried to rock him, anything that indicated you wanted to go to bed. Eventually, from pure exhaustion, he would just pass out (usually around 4:30 am).
Luckily, he is getting back to somewhat of a regular sleeping schedule (knock on wood!). Still up every 3-4 hours, though. We are just following the advice of our doctor who says that it is not unusual for breastfed babies to not sleep through the night until after they are a year old and their normal food intake increases. We may make another attempts at "Ferberizing" this guy to hopefully get him to sleep a little longer at night. The previous times we've tried were a debacle for everyone involved. So far he is way more stubborn than us.
