The wheels on the bike go round and round

Our very mild winter has let us keep up with our new biking hobby.  We try to go for a bike ride every weekend around town.  We are casually training for a series of bike rides starting at the end of May starting with a 50 mile, working up to a century by the end of the summer.
The bike paths here in ABQ are pretty nice.  There is a diversion channel path that goes north to south, which Ali and I can use to bike from our driveway all the way to the Balloon Fiesta park 15 miles north of our house.    We look forward to biking up to the Ballon Fiesta this October.  One of the great things is you bike by the General Mills cereal factory which makes the whole area smell like Honey Nut Cheerios.
Our most recent ride was on the Bosque trail going south from the Botanical Gardens along the Rio Grande.  It was a beautiful and quiet ride (we saw only a hand full of other bikers) as we wound our way through farmland along the numerous irrigation channels.  However, near the southern most end of Albuquerque, the ride takes a hard left and heads abruptly into the industrial wasteland adjacent to the airport.  So our ride went from beautiful scenery to junkyards, a cement plant, and incoming airplanes. So maybe we will keep to our normal ride going north on the Bosque trail through the cottonwoods, even though you play constant dodge with walkers, joggers, inline skaters, baby carriages, and other bikers.  The view is certainly more consistent.
On the return trip to the car, we noticed that Ali's tire was quickly going flat (stupid goatheads), so our casual ride devolved into a series of 2 mile sprints as we went as fast as we could before her tire went flat.  We would then stop, pump it up, and repeat.  It took us 4 sprints to make it back to the car.
