Mmm.....Beer.

Now that Connor's sleep schedule is starting to finally sort its self out, we feel like we have our evenings back and are able to reconnect with a lot of our friends that we haven't spent much time with recently. For our first party of the new year, we resurrected one of our favorite parties, the no holds barred "Battle of the Beers". The idea is simple, everyone brings a 6 pack of their favorite beer, and it goes head to head in a blind taste tests where the groups consensus of the tastiest beverage goes on to the next round until, ultimately, a final champion is crowned. Being that it is the time of year for dark beers, we focused primarily on stouts and porters. Mmmm....

Twelve different dark beers went through the brutal gauntlet of single elimination taste tests. While all were very tasty, there can only be one best beer. The final ranking of our competitors were 4th: Left Hand Brewery Milk Stout (my favorite), 3rd: Chama River Sleeping Dog Oatmeal Stout (a previous winner that our dear friend brought for a tasting many moons ago), 2nd: Santa Fe State Penn Porter, and 1st place: Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout.

Overall a very fun evening as we got to pal around with a lot of friends, and to boot we got a lot of the beers that got voted out in the early rounds. Maybe not winners, but still very tasty.
